UGA Student Charged in Connection with Thefts of Roquan Smith Jerseys

Clarke County Sheriff's Office

A 20-year old University of Georgia student has been arrested in connection with the thefts of items from former Georgia All-American linebacker Roquan Smith. Police say Landyn Shane Durham turned himself in to police Thursday. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department found Durham’s fingerprints in Smith's vehicle.

According to the Clarke County Jail website, he was released early Friday on a $32,200 bond. ACCPD Spokesperson Epifanio Rodriguez says Durham is charged with felony entering auto. Several itemns were taken from SMith's vehicle, including, jerseys, sunglasses, a helmet, and other memorabilia. A rookie with the Chicago Bears, Smith says his iPad with the Bears playbook was also stolen. Team officials said they remotely wiped all information from the password-protected device.

Durham is accused of entering an unlocked vehicle in the The Mark apartment complex. That vehicle belonged to a Georgia club lacrosse player who had a lacrosse jersey and “several” other items taken, according to an Athens Clarke-County police news release.
