A 19-year old Athens man remains behind bars this evening, after he’s accused of stabbing his brother and injuring his mother. Police say Malachi Dorns was involved in an argument with his brother, 29-year old Muniyr Gay, when he grabbed a kitchen and began stabbing Gay.
When their mother, Gail Dorns, tried to intervene, Dorns is accused of stabbing her multiple times as well. Gay was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Malachi left the scene prior to our officers’ arrival on the scene, however while we were processing the scene, our uniformed patrol officers were able to locate Malachi in his vehicle at Southeast Clarke Park and took him into custody without incident," according to Rodriguez.
Rodriguez says Gail Dorns is expected to make a full recovery
“It’s very sad, you have a woman who now, in essence, has lost both of her children, one to being deceased and the other to possibly for the rest of his left in prison for killing his brother and stabbing his mother. It’s just a very sad, sad, situation.”
Malachi Dorns is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
