Athens Comprehensive Plan Scheduled for Approval

ACC Government

The 2018 Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for approval next month. The Athens-Clarke Planning Committee has recommended the adoption of the Plan by the ACC Mayor and Commission at their June 5thmeeting. The plan contains goals, policies, needs, opportunities, and a work program that cover the next 10 years for the ACC government. The June meeting will also serve as a public hearing on the plan. Members of the community are encouraged to attend.

That meeting is June 5th at 6 pm in the Commission Chamber in City Hall. The final draft of the plan is available at www.accgov.com/compplan.

The ACC government officially began the state-required update to the community-wide Comprehensive Plan on June 1, 2017.

Although technically a spate effort, the Comp Plan was scheduled to take place in conjunction with the Envision Athens process. Envision Athens took a broader approach to community and economic development, while the Comprehensive Plan has set standards that provided an outline for the government to specifically address and achieve initiatives highlight in the plan.
