Deadline to Apply for Policy-Making Boards in Athens

Friday is the deadline to apply for 11 positions on eight policy making boards in Athens. The unpaid volunteer positions include openings on the Athens-Clarke County Library Board, Downtown Development Authority and Historic Preservation Committee.

Applicants for any board, authority, or commission positions must be Athens-Clarke County residents and registered to vote in Athens-Clarke County. Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/clerkofcommission or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's office in Room 204 of City Hall.

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants the afternoon/evening of Tuesday, June 26 and tentatively scheduled to make appointments at their Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, July 3.

Openings:

One position on the Athens-Clarke County Library Board for a partial term expiring on December 31, 2019.

Two positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority for a term of two years. One position must be a downtown business owner and one position must be a downtown property owner.*

One position on the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council for a term of three years.

One position on the Division of Family and Children Services Board for a term of five years.*

One position on the Georgia’s Innovation Corridor Joint Development Authority for a term of four years.*

One position on the Hearings Board for a partial term expiring on June 30, 2020.

One position on the Historic Preservation Commission for a partial term expiring on June 30, 2019.

Three positions on the Vision Committee for a term of three years.*
