Marijuana Seized in Joint Operation

Oconee County Sheriff's Office

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seized about 70 pounds of marijuana Thursday night. According to a Facebook post by Sheriff Scott Berry, the seizure at U S nails and Spa at Butlers Crossing was the result of a joint operation with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Northeast Georgia Drug Task Force.

No arrests were made at the time, but federal authorities were notified and arrests are likely later. Green County K-9s Oby and Renzo detected the marijuana sealed in freezer bags and packed in an airtight shipping case. The drugs are valued at $5,000 per pound based on current street prices.
