The remains were discovered in February 2017 near Interstate 85 in Commerce. A GBI forensic artist has completed a skull reconstruction and sketch detailing what they think woman looked like. An anthropologist believes the woman is probably black with some Hispanic lineage. She’s 30-44 years old, approximately 4’9” to 5’6” in height. A sample of the woman’s DNA has been entered into CODIS. Her date of death is estimated to be up to four years before she was found.

Authorities found a metal ring and a butterfly necklace charm with the remains, along with blue, purple, and gray fabrics.

Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI Athens office at 706-552-2309 or the Banks County Sheriff’s Office at 706-677-2248. Information may also be submitted on-line at https://gbi.georgia.gov/webform/submit-tips-online.
