Trailer Full of Camping Gear Stolen from Boy Scout Troop

Thieves targeted a trailer full of gear owned by a Madison County boy scout troop. Scoutmaster Brett Iley says Troop 777’s trailer was stolen while parked at a member’s home. All of the troop’s camping gear is now gone.

“Several tents, several camp stoves, cooking gear, water coolers, coolers to store food in lanterns, things like that,” Iley said.

Iley estimates the losses at about $2,000. Though the Boy Scouts cannot take monetary donations, they can receive in-kind contributions. if you would like to donate, contact Bret Iley at brettiley@gmail.com.

“The area we service out of Madison County, we depend on a lot of donations to provide us this opportunity for boys who don’t have the ability to join scouting. This hurts us bad. It’s sad to see anything get stolen from anybody, especially organization like the Boy Scouts who are trying to good out there and teach young, to give them some basic skills in life.”

If you have any information regarding the theft, contact the Madison County Sheriff’s office.
