10th District Candidate Tabitha Johnson-Green in Athens

Athens-Clarke County Democrats are holding a grand opening of their new headquarters this evening. 10th District Democratic nominee Tabitha Johnson-Green is among the area candidates attending the event.

She stopped by WUGA studios to discuss her visit.

“It’s a major milestone for the Democratic Party here in Clarke County, Athens,” according to Johnson-Green. “It’s important to celebrate this event today because it’s a step forward in democracy for our state and democracy for our world. We will now have a place to lay our hats and for all the members of the community to come out and enjoy.”

After what many would call an upset victory over fellow candidates Professor Richard Winfield, and Chalis Montgomery, Green says she is finding common concerns among the constituents in her 25-county district.

“We have a mixture of urban and rural, mostly rural though. We have the issues that unite us all like healthcare, education, and gun safety. We’re finding those are some of the common themes throughout the dist5rict.”

She faces republican incumbent Jody Hice in November.

The grand opening takes place from 5 to 7 pm. At 1060 Gaines School Road

Area officials expected include Spencer Frye, Jonathan Wallace, and Deborah Gonzalez.
