Amplify My Community Coming to Athens

Amplify my Community is coming to the Classic City, organizers are seeking sponsors for the fundraiser for an area nonprofit.

Amplify Athens takes place next week at the Foundry. The concerts, scheduled for Thursday, September 6th and Friday, September 7th celebrate Family Connection-Communities in Schools. Tim Johnson is Executive Director of the nonprofit.

“Right now we are really focused on sustaining our site coordinators in high schools. And these are individuals who work in the schools, but they work for our organization,” Johnson says. “That program was made possible by a very generous, one-time only, non-renewable grant from the AT&T foundation, and that grant has run out.”

Joanne Shaw Taylor with guest JD Simo play Thursday, and Shawn Mullins and Claire Campbell play Friday.

Amplify Concerts are produced by the nonprofit Amplify my Community.

All proceeds benefit Family Connection-Communities in Schools. The concerts have raised more than $300,000 since 2011.
