Correctional Officer Accused of Stealing Inmate's Money

A corrections officer is accused of stealing money from an Alabama jail inmate's account.
News outlets report that 25-year-old Danielle Nichole Rodgers of Columbus, Georgia, was arrested Tuesday, a little more than a week after the investigation into missing money began.

The Lee County Detention Center's released inmates receive credit cards with the amount of money on them at the time of their arrests. Sheriff's Capt. Van Jackson says a released man reported his card wasn't active. After developing Rodgers as a suspect, the Lee County sheriff's office and Columbus police searched her home.

Jackson says the theft was likely an isolated incident.
Rodgers is charged with third-degree felony theft and has been fired from the detention center. It's unclear whether she has a lawyer.
