Jackson County Postal Worker Accused of Stealing Mail

usps.com

A Jackson County postal worker is accused of stealing mail. According to Sheriff Janis Mangum, 34-year old Kristi Leanne Miller, of Jefferson, has been arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. The sheriff says her office received a tip regarding possible mail thefts in the Jefferson and Pendergrass areas.

“On August 21, we received some information of a person in a vehicle that was stopped at some mailboxes and appeared to be taking mail out of the mailboxes,”
Mangum said, “so an investigation was started at that time, which led them to the arrest of Kristi Miller.”

Mangum says Miller did work for the United States Postal Service, but she did not work in the area where the mail was stolen.

The U.S. Postal Inspectors Office assisted in the investigation.

Mangum says citizens are encouraged to notify local law enforcement agencies of any suspicious activity, crimes or other relevant information by calling 9-1-1, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 706-367-8718 or anonymously at the Tip Line at 706-367-3784.
