Wallet“We looked at happiness here, which may seem hard to quantify, but there are definitely research out there, studies out there to determine environmental factors that are linked to a person’s overall wellbeing,” according to Gonzalez. “We looked at emotional and physical wellbeing, work environment, community and your surrounding environment too.”

Georgia made the top 20 at number 19 on the list.

“Georgia did the best when it comes to community and your surrounding environment, so Georgia has a high volunteer rate, the weather isn’t too bad, a lot of leisure time spent on an average day, which makes people happy, it has a low separation and divorce rate and it’s a pretty safe place to be in term so violent and property crime.”

Gonzalez says the state could improve in some areas.

“Georgia cold do better when it comes to the emotional and mostly the physical wellbeing. I don’t it’s a secret there, higher obesity rates, etcetera. Georgia also has the fourth-lowest sports participation rate.”

Hawaii was the number one state on the list and West Virginia was last at number 50.
