St. Mary's Hospital to Offer Life After Loss Grief Support Group

stmayrsathens.org

St. Mary’s is providing assistance to area residents needing help in dealing with grief.

Life After Loss is a bereavement and grief support group. The six-week program is designed to provide mutual support for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Mark Ralston is Public Relations manager with St. Mary’s.

“After the loss of someone you love, it can be very difficult,” Ralston said. “Grief can be quite overwhelming and interfere with people’s ability to continue with their normal lives afterward. So we are helping folks learn better and healthier ways and meaningful ways to cope with that grief.”

The free support group will be held on Thursday from 7 to 8 pm, September 20 through November 1 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

“Life After Loss is a way of promoting the emotional and spiritual health of our community as well as the physical health of our patients. The group will be facilitated by Jessica Chicken, who is one of our critical care and palliative care and she has extensive experience in helping people specifically with grief and loss.”

For information or to register, please call Jessica Chicken at 706.389.3426.

St. Mary’s is an underwriter with WUGA.
