Democrats and Republicans Host Candidates in Athens

Two days after Donald Trump Jr and other nationally-known conservatives stopped in Athens as part of a Campus Clash tour, the Stacey Abrams campaign is planning a Meet and Greet with Young Voters in Athens.

According to a campaign release, the Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee plans to discuss the importance of voting for Democrats across the state. Abrams is expected to be joined by Athens Mayor-Elect Kelly Girtz, local college students and community members.

The meet and greet is Thursday at 6 pm, at Hendershot’s.

The Athens-Clarke County Republican Party is holding a candidate’s forum Thursday night. Senator Bill Cowsert, Senator Frank Ginn, and challenger Dawn Johnson, Presentative Deborah Gonzalez and challenger Houston Gaines, along Representative Jonathan Wallace and challenger Marcus Wiedower are expected.

The event will take place at 6 o’ clock Thursday evening in the auditorium at Piedmonts Athens Regional Medical Services Building. It is free and open to the public.
