An app-based food delivery service has kicked off its Thanksgiving charity drive, enabling users to donate towards providing Thanksgiving meals “with all the trimmings.”

Waitr, an app that lets users order food from local restaurants and provides delivery service, started its “Share Thanksgiving” donation drive Monday.

People can click on a “Donate a Meal” button when placing their order, and select an amount to donate from $2 to $10.

Chris Meaux, Waitr founder and CEO, says its drive has met success in the past.

“We fed more than a thousand families last year during our first Share Thanksgiving program. This year, it’s our goal to double that number."

Waitr and its participating partners will also be matching a portion of donations.

"It means the world to us that we’re able to give back and deliver hot Thanksgiving meals to those who can use a little help during the holiday.”

The five-week drive will last until Nov. 15, with the company delivering meals Thanksgiving week in communities served by Waitr.

“If anyone knows a family in need who would appreciate a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings, we invite you to visit waitrapp.com and let us know,” Meaux said.
