Georgia Showing Significant Gains in Hospital Safety

The LeapFrog Group

The state of Georgia is showing significant gains when it comes to hospital safety. That’s according to the national nonprofit the Leapfrog Group. The organization aims to improve healthcare quality for consumers, employers and purchasers.  Leapfrog released its fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades. Georgia ranks 7th in the nation, up from 35 this past spring.

75 hospitals in the state were grades and 26 earned an “A”, 17 earned a “B”, 23 a “C”, 9 earned a “D” and none earned an “F.”

New Jersey came in at number 1 on the list, while Delaware and North Dakota tied for last place in Hospital Safety. Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center received an “A.”

The Leapfrog Group uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to grade more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.

St. Mary’s hospital received a “C” on the list.
