Bus Monitor Arrested After Bus Altercation

The Red&Black

A bus monitor was arrested Thursday and charged after an altercation with students.

Holly Lynn Sewell of Athens, 54, was charged with two counts of Simple Battery resulting from an investigation requested by the Clarke County School District.

According to a police report, Sewell “reacted to student behavior in a verbally and physically aggressive manner” on a school district bus.

School officials were made aware of the incident when a student shared what occurred with his parents and school administrators. The bus monitor has since been terminated, according to CCSD.

Counseling will be provided to all students on the bus, according to CCSD.

CCSD Police were informed of the incident and asked the Athens-Clarke County Police Department to assist.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the CCSD and ACCPD request that anyone with additional information contact Det. Paul Johnson at 706-613-3330, ext.522 or paul.johnson@accgov.com.

Parents of students with concerns can contact Mary Walsh Wickwire at wickwirem@clarke.k12.
