The Downtown parade of Lights takes place tonight. This year’s theme is “Christmas around the World.” The parade ends in front of City Hall for the traditional tree lighting ceremony, featuring Santa Claus.
Dozens of participants including marching bands, local businesses and community groups are taking part along with decorated floats and performers. Entries will compete for prizes including best use of theme, best use of lights, most original float and the best overall will take the “Mayor’s Award.”
Streets along most of the parade route will close to traffic around 6:30 Friday evening.
