Michelle Nguyen was appointed by Manager Blaine Williams to be Athens-Clarke County Unified Government’s Economic Development Department Director after serving as the interim director since Sept. 1.
She has served as a human resources professional in ACCGOV Human Resources Department, managed the coproduction of public and nonprofit services as a community liaison and special events coordinator and served as a human relations specialist in the City of Salisbury, North Carolina before joining the Economic Development Department staff.
Nguyen graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from the Terry Sanford School of Public Policy and received her Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Georgia.
The Economic Development Department, which was established in 2013, aims to be the primary point of contact for industries, large commercial developments, site location consultants and state economic development organizations interested developing or locating new or expanded business in Athens-Clarke County.
