Georgia Museum Hosting Biennial Fundraiser

Cathy Bradbury

The Georgia Museum is hosting its Biennial Fundraiser: The Elegant Salute Dance Party this weekend. This year’s theme is James Bond-inspired From Russia With Love.

Sarah Peterson is co-chair of the event.

“It provides crucial support for exhibitions, outreach, and year-round educational programs at the museum, all of which are funded by private donations,” Peterson says. “The theme for this event ties in with the Russian exhibition that’s going to be upstairs and that Russian theme trickles down to the entire event.”

The Reluctant Autocrat: Tsar Nicholas II is currently on display through March 17.

Airee Edwards is co-chair of the after party.

“Well the Georgia Museum, I don’t know if a lot of people know, but it is the state museum, and we’re pretty excited that it’s in our backyard. This is a great museum that we all love and want to support, and although it is free, there are reasons why we have events like this so that it can be free for the public,” Edwards says.

The event is Saturday from 9 pm to 1 am. Tickets are available for the dinner, dance or both.

“So tickets are available online at bit.ly/elegantsalute2019, or you can also purchase tickets at Agora Vintage downtown,” Edwards says. “All the exhibitions are open and available upstairs. The dance party is going to be gorgeous. DJ Mahogany is providing the music for the event, and we’re going to have signature martinis.”

Attendees are encouraged dress as their favorite James Bond character, black tie, or cocktail attire.

Dinner activities start at 6 pm and the dance party at 9 pm.
