Applications for ACC Citizens Government Academy Open

ACC Unified Government

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is accepting applications for the 2019 Citizens Government Academy, a nine-week program which takes place on Wednesday nights from March 27 to May 22.

The Academy provides participants with an overview of  local government services, function and activities centered around the Mayor and Commission’s strategic commitments to residents.

Those commitments are to keep the community informed and engaged, work toward economic prosperity, make Athens healthy, livable and sustainable, work toward transportation mobility and connectivity, ensure the community is safe and prepared, and be an accountable and responsive government.

The program is coordinated by Assistant Manager Jestin Johnson and the Manager’s Office. Sessions will take place at various Unified Government facilities. There will also be a historical and organizational overview of the government, tours of local facilities, topical presentations by department directors and department representatives and various other interactive learning experiences.

Applicants must be ACC residents ages 18 or older. The program is limited to 25 participants and the deadline to apply to the Citizens Government Academy is Friday, March 8 or until all available spaces are filled.

For more information or to apply, visit the ACC website or contact Jestin Johnson at 706-613-3020 or jestin.johnson@accgov.com.
