DeKalb County CEO and Athens native Michael Thurmond will be in Athens Saturday for the Michael L. Thurmond Lecture at the Morton Theatre.
Thurmond will discuss is newly released and updated book: A Story Untold: Black Men and Women in Athens History. The book was first published 40 years ago.
The event will also feature youth recitals, music and special presentations.
It takes place at First AME Church on Hull Street at 2 pm Saturday. A reception and book signing will immediately follow the program.
It is free and open to the public.
