A 19-year-old man was shot on April 1 near Hickman Drive at around 5:49 a.m., according to Athens-Clarke County Police.
Officers responded to a Shots Fired call in the vicinity of Hickman Drive before arriving on the scene to find a non-responsive victim, later identified as Jamelle Brightwell of Bogart.
Officers rendered aid to Brightwell until EMS arrived. Brightwell was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
