Three Athens Bars Fail Alcohol Compliance Checks

ACCPD

Three Athens bars have failed alcohol compliance checks. According to a media release, the ACCPD’s Alcohol Compliance Unit conducted a series of enforcement checks downtown. 11 bars were checked and while 8 passed, three failed. They are Sake Mama on East Clayton Street, Buddha Bar on East Broad Street and Wayward Bar & Lounge on West Clayton Street.

Police say they served alcohol to underage operatives. Centro, Jerzees Sports Bar and Night Club, Flanagan’s/Half Moon Pub, Bourbon Street, Hedges, The Place, Sister Louisa’s Church, and Cloud passed ACCPD’s compliance check.

To date, the department has conducted random compliance checks on 40 establishments in Athens-Clarke County-31 passed and 9 failed.

ACCPD reminds bar owners and employees that serving alcohol to underage patrons is against local and state ordinances.
