Junior League Tea at Taylor-Grady House with Designer James Farmer

The Junior League of Athens is holding a high tea to celebrate 50 years at the Taylor-Grady House.  In addition to the formal tea service, professional interior designer and author James Farmer will provide a floral arrangement demonstration. The Auburn grad says he’s looking forward to his Athens visit.

“Athens is a great town, my father is actually a physician in Athens, so my family has connections there and I’m on the State Botanical Board for Georgia and our Botanical Gardens are there in Athens,” Farmer said. “I have a fondness for the town, I love to come there and eat, I love to see family and friends. I just don’t bark.”

Farmer says he wants to give those attending advice on how to embrace southern style and grace and how to use those traditions today.

“What I’d love for folks to know is that if they have the opportunity to hear me speak, be prepared to learn to laugh, to learn to embrace the heritage that we’ve been given, but also be inspired to live for today.”

It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

The tea is Saturday from noon to 2 pm at the Taylor-Grady House.

Tickets to the event are $60 and can be purchased  on the website.

Tickets will be available at the door for $75.
