Alps Road Chick-fil-A Back Open after Car Crashed Inside Dining Room

Online Athens

The Chick-fil-A on Alps road is once again open, just hours after a teen accused of driving a stolen car drove that vehicle into the restaurant. Around 4 o’ clock Tuesday morning. An ACCPD Officer saw the vehicle driving erratically on Broad Street near downtown and tried to stop it.

The driver managed to elude the officer and avoided stop sticks deployed by another police vehicle, only to end up losing control, crashing into the restaurant and stopping inside the dining area.

Operator Shane Todd says the facility’s drive through is open.

“I’m so proud of first responders, by the time I was here, probably about 15 minutes after the incident, but so many firefighters, and police officers and ambulances,” Todd said. “It’s just amazing what happens in a community when something tough happens. But we did open around 11 am this morning at our drive though only.”

Todd says the dining room is expected to open soon.

“Anytime now, possibly later today, but hopefully in the next day or so. We want to serve the community. It’s really fun to be open right now.”

According to a media release, the driver and passenger are both juveniles. Police say the female is believed to be the driver and the male the passenger. Both refused medical treatment and appeared uninjured. The female was taken to the Northeast Georgia Youth Detention facility and she faces multiple charges. The was released to his parent.
