Upcoming Television Special "Peabody Presents: Stories of the Year" Showcases Award Winners

An upcoming television show takes a unique look at the Peabody Awards. The special, Peabody Presents: Stories of the Year, airs next week.

Previous specials have focused on the awards ceremony, but Director Jeffrey says this show takes viewers behind the scenes.

“We really wanted to do something different this year, which was a roundtable discussion and a deep-dive into five of our winning shows,” Jone said. “So we have a special airing on FX that Hasan Minhaj hosts and he talks with four other storytellers into how and why they produced what they did and what makes for a Peabody winning program.”

In addition to two-time Peabody Award-winner Minhaj, who was honored for Netflix’s Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj as well as his previous recognition for Homecoming King, the candid conversation includes the powerful voices of participants who were selected for their groundbreaking and visionary work:

· Steven Canals, co-creator, executive producer and writer of FX’s Pose.

· Paula Lavigne, ESPN investigative reporter for Spartan Silence: Crisis at Michigan State.

· Terence Nance, filmmaker and creator of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness.

· Tracy Heather Strain, director and writer of the PBS/WNET documentary Lorraine Hansberry: Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart.

The special airs Sunday, July 7th at 10:30 pm on the FX network.
