Northwest Georgia Police Officer is Involved in a Shooting

Police say an officer has been involved in a shooting in the northwest Georgia city of Dalton.

Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier tells local media that the shooting happened in front of a Sonoco business around 9 a.m. Monday.

Frazier said officers had responded to multiple reports of a person behaving erratically and running in and out of traffic along the road.

Police say the officer was not hurt, and that the man who was shot was getting medical treatment.

Frazier said no one from the business was involved.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Dalton police requested that they respond to the shooting. The agency said it's working to gather details of what happened.

Dalton is about 90 miles (145 kilometers) northwest of Atlanta.
