As summer winds down, the American Red Cross is asking donors of all blood types to help combat an ongoing emergency blood shortage. The organization says many regular donors delay giving to take final summer vacations or to prepare for school to start.
According to a media release, blood platelet donors are not keeping pace with patient needs. Eligible donors can make an appointment to donate by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-Red Cross -1-800-733-2767.
The Red Cross is thanking donors who give blood now through August 29th with a $5-dollar Amazon gift card, thanks to a million-dollar gift from Amazon. A list of blood drives and opportunities to donate blood in Clarke and surrounding counties is available below.
