Athens Neighborhood Health Center/ACC Library Hosting Medicare 2020 Discussion

Athens Regional Library

The Athens Neighborhood Health Center is inviting community members to a panel discussion about the upcoming Medicare enrollment season. The panel will feature health representatives as well as those from Georgia Cares, and a local Medicare ombudsman.

Harold Weber is an insurance navigator and Outreach Coordinator with Athens Neighborhood Health Center.

“It’s for people who are Medicare eligible and who have a genuine interest in Medicare, and that’s the audience we’re targeting and we hope that’s the audience who comes out,” Weber said.

Those attending will have a chance to question the panel after a brief presentation. Weber says this will help Medicare enrollees become better informed so they ca n make the best decision when enrolling.

“When you get to know Medicare people, and like I said, I’ve been doing for, this is my sixth season, many of those people live on Social Security and a modest retirement, many of them on Social Security alone.”

He says any unplanned medical cost can be overwhelming.

“It can be devastating to have any sort of medical expense that’s unanticipated and so it’s very important for them try to get some sort of financial plan that’s going to lock out any unexpected medical expenses.”

The meeting is Wednesday, October 9th from 11:30 until 1:30 at the ACC Library.  The event is free.
