Athens News Matters: Rethinking Menopause with UGA Professor's New Book

Hot flashes, irritability, weight gain and a host of other symptoms can cause women to dread menopause. But what if we’ve got it all wrong? In her new book, The Slow Moon Climbs: The History, Science, and Meaning of Menopause, UGA history professor Susan Mattern explores the past to reveal that modern societies may have some inaccurate ideas about this stage of life. 

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
