ACCPD Identifies Victim in Fatal Vehicle Crash as 18-Year Old UGA Student

ACCPD

Authorities say the 18-year old University of Georgia student killed in an early morning car wreck has been identified at Martell Rashea Robinson. According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, officers responded to the scene at the intersection of Pulaski Street and West Broad Street at 5: 46 this morning to find the single vehicle crash.

Police say Robinson was heading south on Pulaski toward West broad when he failed to stop at intersection and collided with a rock retaining wall.  Robinson, who was the only person in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries sustained in that crash.

Police say the cause or contributing factors leading to the collision are still under investigation.

This is the second fatal vehicle accident in Athens-Clarke County this calendar year.
