Georgia Coronavirus Cases Top 5,000

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 have topped 5-thousand in Georgia. The most recent numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health show 5,348 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state, with 1,056 people hospitalized and 163 deaths reported. Fulton County has 712 cases, the most in the state, and 22 deaths, Dougherty County is next with 507 cases and 29 deaths, DeKalb with 396 cases, six deaths, Cobb at 329 cases, 17 deaths and Gwinnett with 282 cases and six deaths are the top five counties in the state when it comes to the number of cases.

Locally, Clarke County has 54 cases, seven deaths, Barrow County has 20 cases, two deaths, Oconee County 18 cases, no deaths, Jackson County 11 cases, no deaths, Madison County four cases, one death and Oglethorpe County has one case, one death.

Nearly 23,000 tests have been performed. People aged 18 to 59 make up the bulk of the cases with 59%, those age 60 and older comprise 36% of the state’s cases, while the age is unknown in four percent of cases and just one percent of positives are in people 17 and under.
