Governor Kemp addressing storm damage in the wake of severe weather across Georgia Sunday amd Monday.
Early Monday, the governor declared a State of Emergency for all 159 Georgia counties as a result of severe weather. Eight people died in the state, seven in Murray County. Gov. Kemp says 49 others were injured. he discussed the situation at the top of an update on COVID-19 in Georgia.
“As you all know I got a look at some of the damage in Murray County today, I can tell you it is devastating” according to Kemp. “It looked a bomb went off in two different neighborhoods I visited. Many of those Georgians are already suffering from being out of work due to the COBID-19 virus and now they literally lost everything that they own.”
As of Monday morning, 177,000 residents were without power. As of late Monday afternoon, that number was down to less than 60,000.
