Certain parks are reopening in Athens. According to the Leisure Services Department, select locations, including Ben Burton, Memorial and Walker Parks-formerly Trail Creek Park, will open Monday, May18. Sandy Creek park will open on Tuesday, May 19. Dudley Park, the Firefly, Greenway, and Sandy Creek Nature Trails will remain open. All other parks and facilities remain closed for now.
While the facilities will allow for permit access to fishing, open space, boat launch, trail use and more, certain restrictions remain in effect, including limited or no restroom access, closed beach, playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts.
