Athens-Clarke County Library presents virtual writing workshop for teens on June 23

Athens Regional Library System

As part of its 2020 Summer Reading Program, the Athens Regional Library System presents an online writing workshop for teens called “Building Your Story: Using Archives in Creative Writing,” at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23. This unique opportunity is geared towards teens looking to take their creative writing to the next level.

Authors use local archives to research parts of their stories, whether that’s identifying a building that stood on a street corner in the 1980s, or more complex questions.  Athens-Clarke County Library’s Heritage Room staff will walk participants through the process of using the local archive to answer research questions. Additionally, this workshop-based session will allow participants to pose any number of questions that may arise from the writing process.

This online meeting will be hosted on Google Meet and is limited to 30 participants. You can register through the library’s online events calendar at  http://athenslibrary.org/services/virtual-events. A worksheet will be provided during the online meeting. If you cannot attend the online meeting, email heritageroomref@athenslibrary.org for more information. This program is intended for teens 13-17.

The Athens Regional Library System includes 11 library branches in Athens-Clarke, Franklin, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe counties.
