COVID-19 Cases in Georgia

Georgia is still consistently reporting over 2,000 new Coronavirus cases per day, with an increase in deaths and hospitalizations seen today. There were 2,236 new cases reported today and 107 deaths. The total in Georgia is now a little over 258,000 cases and approximately 5,262 deaths. There were also 292 hospitalizations due to the virus today.

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reported on August 24th that a little under half of the state’s total ER beds are now in use. 84% of critical care beds are in use, and 77% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. 39% of adult ventilators remain in use. All of these numbers have gone down from last week.

According to the state health department, Clarke currently has had 2564 total cases and 27 total deaths. Barrow County has had 1629 cases and 36 deaths. Jackson County has had 1351 cases and 22 deaths. Madison County has had 503 cases with seven deaths, Oconee County is reporting 525 cases and 20 deaths, while Oglethorpe has had 270 cases and nine deaths.
