Georgia Pandemic Unemployment Numbers

As for combating the lasting economic effects of this pandemic, Georgia has a long road ahead
Recent data shows that Georgia has seen the second slowest economic recovery as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is coming from WalletHub who, using three unique metrics, ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine who was most and least effectively recovering from the Coronavirus pandemic.

In terms of weekly unemployment claims, Georgia ranks 50th, only above Kansas. When looking in terms of total recovery since the start of the pandemic, Georgia is 51st, dead last.

This data comes as Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler reports that Athens has seen both an increase in the number of employed individuals and a decrease in the total unemployment rate. Despite this positive movement, the unemployment rate in Athens was still 6.6 percent in July, almost double the 3.7 percent unemployment rate seen at the same time last year

More information on the Georgia unemployment rate can be found on Department of Labor website, dol.georgia.gov.
