ACC Mayor and Commission approve new TADS

Last night the mayor and commission approved the boundaries for the proposed tax allocation districts.

The mayor and commission approved the geographical boundaries for several proposed redevelopment areas. A commission-defined option on the east downtown and Lexington areas allowed for the expansion of the originally set boundaries.

District 7 Commissioner Russell Edwards explained the process.

“Those areas will now go to our staff to create proposed redevelopment plans and those plans will come back to us for final adoption and creation of a tax allocation district in the November voting meeting”

Once that passes, the tax allocation districts will be created, and a baseline property tax value will be assigned in January 2021.
