ACCPD Looking for Suspect in Assault on UGA Student

Caroline Barnes

The ACCPD is investigating an attempted sexual assault of a 19-year old UGA student. According to a release regarding the incident, the victim was walking home in the area of South Harris Street when a muscular male grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth. She says the suspect pulled her into the bushes and tried to remove her clothing. She was able to fight him off and escape.  Detectives are asking residents in the area to check any video surveillance to see if the assault or the suspect were captured on video.  A Crime Stoppers reward is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information about the incident or suspect is asked to contact Detective Rick Dearing at (762) 400-7174 or the Crime Stoppers tip line at (706) 705-4775.
