NCAA Announces 2020-21 College Basketball Season

NCAA

As UGA gets closer to the start of the 2020 Football season, the NCAA has announced updates for the college basketball season this winter.

On Wednesday the NCAA announced that the 2020-2021 college basketball season will happen. Set to begin on November 25th, teams must play a minimum of 13 games, and up to 27 in order to be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament at the end of the season.

Last season’s NCAA Tournament was called off because of rising cases of coronavirus around the country.

Pre-season practices can begin on October 14th.

As for concerns over the COVID-19 spread, UGA’s head football coach, Kirby Smart announced on Tuesday night that no football players will be out for the opening game of the season against Arkansas on September 26th.

UGA's Men's and Women's basketball schedules this season have not yet been announced.
