ACC Mayor & Commisson Allow Delivery of Alcoholic Beverages

Athens-Clarke County Government

The ACC mayor and commission unanimously passed the amendment to the ordinance of the delivery of alcoholic beverages Tuesday evening.

The ordinance now allows the home delivery of sealed alcoholic beverages including malt beverages and wine. The goal of amending the ordinance was to benefit local businesses and restaurants who are struggling during the pandemic.

District 5 Commissioner Tim Denson.

"This is definitely going to help benefit a lot of the businesses that are struggling, and also the reason it was a bit of a delay is because the department of revenues came up with a very thorough list of requirements that any entity who is doing this delivery has to actually go by including being certified drivers and such, so it's going to be done in a very responsible manner."

The mayor and commission also accepted the COVID-19 grant application and award for the Board of Elections and voter registration.
