UGA Fall 2020 Commencement to be Held Virtually

Athens Banner-Herald

On October 22nd, the University of Georgia announced that Fall 2020 Commencement ceremonies will be held virtually.

Previously scheduled to be held in Stegeman Coliseum, undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremonies will be held online due to concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19.

According to the University of Georgia's announcement, President Jere Morehead said "the safety of our students and their families in this challenging time was at the forefront of this decision. Our Commencement planners will now strive to find ways to celebrate the occasion that are distinctive, meaningful, and memorable for our graduates".

The virtual ceremonies will be held on the original date of December 18th for Fall 2020 undergraduate students as well as Fall and Spring 2020 master's and doctoral degree candidates. A gift will be mailed to every graduate celebrating remotely.

More updates will be posted in the coming weeks.
