Athens Nonprofit Receives Match-Grant Donor

Family Connection-Communities in Schools of Athens is reaching out to the community to help meet the needs of area residents. An anonymous donor has committed to matching up to $10,000 donated to the nonprofit through Saturday, October 31st.

Tim Johnson is the Executive Director of the nonprofit.

“People can make donations and they will be matched up to a total of $10,000. if the donation is made through our Facebook page, or by sending a check to FC-CIS, post office box 1904, Athens Ga, 30603. They can also donate through our website.”

The funds will be used to purchase essential supplies for families in Athens-Clarke County served by the organization’s Neighborhood Leaders and in-school Site Coordinators.

Daniel Epting is a Board Member with FC-CIS.

“We're doing a very targeted campaign right now. We wanted to do a blitzkrieg fundraiser, match-grant opportunity. It’s a treat, not a trick for Halloween. We are trying to spend the right amount of money, to get the right amount of products in, to get it to the people and to be ahead of the curve for this next wave.”

Items include children’s socks, underwear, jackets, hats, adult diapers, feminine hygiene products, and more. You can donate via Facebook, by check to Family Connection, or the website. Visit fc-cis.org for more information.
