City of Hull Recieves Roadside Beautification Grant

Douglas Now

The City of Hull just received funding through a statewide grant to improve roadside attractions.

On Monday the Georgia Department of Transportation announced which cities and counties would receive money through their 2020 Roadside Enhancement and Beautification Council Grant. Among the recipients was Hull, in Madison County.

The city of Hull will receive a little over $46,000 to help improve Hull-Colbert Road. The money will go towards accomplishing the grant’s mission to provide funding for enhancement and beautification projects along Georgia's roadsides.

The Department of Transportation gathers funds for the grant through fees paid to the State for outdoor advertising along highways.

Since the grant's creation in 2008, the Department of Transportation has awarded more than $5 million in grants similar to what Hull received. Two cities in nearby Gwinnett county were also awarded grants this year, Sugar Hill and Buford.
