Jackson EMC Returns $13 Million to Members in Margin Refunds

Jackson Alliance

Jackson EMC is giving millions back to its members. The electric cooperative is mailing checks this month, totaling $13 million in margin refunds. The margins are refunded for a combination of years, so long-time, newer, and former members can benefit.

April Sorrow is Vice President of Communication.

“Every year, our Board of Directors look at our finances, they make these decisions on what money we are able to return to our members. So last year, in 2019, we were able to return $12 million. So every year, there is a significant amount of money that we are able to return back.”

After this December’s refund, Jackson EMC will have refunded $160 million in margin refunds to its member-owners since the cooperative was founded in 1938.
