Inmates Test Positive for COVID-19 at ACC Jail

Five inmates at the Athens-Clarke County Jail are in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. Clarke County Sheriff John Williams says that no inmates at the facility have had the virus prior to these cases.

The sheriff said jail staff are working to keep the virus cases under control. Some areas of the jail are in lockdown to prevent movement and possible cross-contamination. Williams says the jail has a contract though the county to provide cleaning and sanitizing…which has been ongoing.
