The city of Hull is offering assistance to families in need this Saturday. Mayor Paul Walton says thousands of pounds of food are being distributed.
"This coming Saturday, February 27th, at 8 AM at Hull City Hall, the city will be having a food distribution where we'll be distributing 10,000 pounds of food, hopefully, to feed over 200 families."
The packages will include a variety of food items.
"It will be canned goods, juice, meat, it's a little bit of everything. And one more thing that we'll be adding to each box is facemasks for the recipients.
Walton says this isn’t the first mass distribution the city has held for Hull residents.
"In September of last year, the city of Hull had given away a COVID-19 care package where we distributed over 100 bags of items. The turnout was amazing. Next time, we hope to have it be much larger and distribute even more; there's definitely a need."
While there is no need to register or sign up for the food, there will be a short form to fill out regarding income and the number of family members per household. Once again, the distribution starts at 8 AM and is first-come, first-served.
