CARES Funding Deadline Friday

Athens nonprofits have until 4 pm Friday to apply for a share of some $460,000 in CARES funding. The money will be used to provide food assistance, housing assistance, and homeless services to indigent households in Athens-Clarke County. Commissioner Russell Edwards says organizations can visit www.accgov.com to apply.

"Interested non-profits can go to the Athens-Clarke County website at accgov.com to find an application to this grant that is very streamlined, just a few pages. They just have to provide basic information about how they plan to use the funds, some of their financial history, just affirmation that all of their tax documents are in order."

Edwards says the grants will range from $25,000 to $75,000, though larger grants will also be considered.
