The AthFest Music and Arts Festival is taking place this year. Organizers say the 2021 event is scheduled for September 24th through 26th. Jill Helme is Executive Director of AthFest Educates.

Helme says the date isn’t the only major change this year.

One of the biggest developments as a result of the festival was the formation of AthFest Educates.

The nonprofit awards grants for music and arts education for programs for area youth. AthFest Educates will reach the hall-million dollar mark this year in grant giving.

The festival will feature free music, an artist market, KidsFest, vendors and beer gardens. For more information, visit athfest.com. You can hear more from Jill Helme on this week’s edition of Athens News Matters on WUGA.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio.
